With many cafe’s disgruntle with laptops ruining the ambiance of their cafe, fair enough, here are 5 places I found myself at while abroad.

Biblioteca delle Oblate (library)

There are several main libraries in Florance and Biblioteca delle oblate is probably one of my favorites that I have visited. However, they are not like your normal library and is a popular study spot for many of the locals of all ages. The library dates back to the 14th century with amazing architecture and huge courtyards. It’s a three story in and outside concept building and when going right when they open, there is a huge crowd ready to enter.

I definitely recommend walking around your first time the whole area, there are tons of rooms filled with books, conference areas, execution spaces, a CAFE yes a cafe, and tons of places to sit. One of the best places to sit is on the top floor because of its beautiful views of the city, especially the Duomo and gets morning sunlight to keep you warm if you are able to go when they open to grab a table. The atmosphere is quite different than walking around the city and can be peaceful and so calming. I get some of my best work done here, like this website!:)

Floret

Named after the Institute for Garden and Landsaping, Floret is a chic brunch, cocktail, and dinner spot on the second floor inside one of the clothing spots. However, during peak dining hours wouldn’t go to study here just because there is not a ton of seating and the waiters may give you a look. The spot is a covered outdoor seating with some indoor as well and the plants surrounding speperates you from the people next to you. The atmosphere is vibrant and cozy with a focus on sustainability.

The only downside is the food and drinks are more on the pricy side because of their high quality ingredients and rotating menu focusing on fresh and seasonal ingredients. They have the classic Italian drinks like cappuccinos and espresso as well as those interesting smoothies, cold presses, and lattes. One of my favorites that I ordered was the hummus (9) to share and is deliciously creamy topped with Kalamata Olives, paprika and a side of pita.

La Menagere

A spot open for a late night study session has a beautiful fusion of cocktail lounge and restaurant separated by glass windows. Originally founded in the 20th century having home goods it was since transformed into a gathering spot that blends the old charm with contemporary designs that sometimes looks like the viral 2015 designs but is still cozy and vibrant. The cafe serves many different ranges of coffee’s, teas, and fresh juices and they are open from breakfast, lunch, dinner and late at night till 11pm.

I thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside against a brick wall that had an outlet right next to me. It is another more pricy spot but the 10 hot chocolate came with 3 small pastries really motivated me to get some homework done and I think it will for you too!

Barac

Close to the river, is a quiet little bookstore serving fresh coffee and brunch with an incredible study area both indoor and outdoor. There are around 4 different seated areas and I have not had trouble finding a spot to sit just myself but you may have a hard time with a larger group. You can tell that the seating is structured to sit alone.

I decided to to try their pumpkin toast and fruit pancakes and both were amazing I would highly recommend. There are also delicious espressos and cappuccinos!
